iPhone 3G As Modem? Yes

iPhone 3G

It seems that iPhone owners will be able to use the popular mobile as a modem, an ATT rep has recently announced. So if you plan to use your laptop by hooking it up to your iPhone (a/k/a tethering), soon this will be available locally. Just don’t ask me when this will be allowed. No release date given.

Rumors have it that tethering through your iPhone is not going to be free. It is estimated at an additional $30 per month, on top of your data plan charges. Ouch!

Tethering is great for accessing the net on the go, as you can use your laptop’s bigger screen but have it powered by your cell phone’s modem. This is (of course) assuming you’re someplace that doesn’t have free web access.
